Government SETA Bursaries
There are various SETAs (Sector Training Authorities) that offer bursaries. This is in support of Government’s stated objective to increase the number of graduates in the scarce skills disciplines. These bursaries are offered on the basis of academic merit, proof of registration in a scarce skills discipline and financial need. There is no specific employment contract attached to the bursary but candidates are required to sign an obligation to work in South Africa and sometimes in a specific sector on graduation. There are no work or training opportunities attached to these bursaries. They simply provide funding.
