As a former recipient of the Anglo Coal Community Bursary, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the tremendous support that you have provided me through this sponsorship.
I was born and bred in Witbank. Growing up in an area surrounded by mines, I have always been curious about the health & safety of employees. As years went by, I did lots of research and I fell in love with the field of Environmental Health.
Upon completion of my matric, the biggest worry I had, was who is going to pay for my tertiary education since I am being raised by a pensioner (i.e. grandmother). Then, this opportunity came along and changed my life completely. The bursary lightened my financial burden, allowing me to focus more on my studies. I also had an opportunity to reside at one of the best residents around campus which was student friendly and convenient. I was very well looked after, the career wise personnel were also of great support, it be personal stuff or varsity related issues.
I now hold a National Diploma in Environmental Health (Cum Laude) and a Baccalaures Technologia in Environmental Health, which I have completed through the Tshwane University of Technology. Currently I am working for Exxaro Matla Coal as an Occupational Hygiene Assistant, with my main goal that is to raise awareness about occupational hygiene hazards, assess and control them.
